Centre for Fashion Enterprise (CFE) invites you to an evening of engaging presentations and inspired conversations. This Meetup is aimed at fashion, tech and digital creatives, UAL students, graduates and alumni as well as the wider fashion, tech, investor and media industry. The Meetup gives you a chance to:

Our 10th meetup focuses on emotional and sensory technologies. There will be speakers from different professional backgrounds who are working across wearables and fashtech offering unique emotional and sensory experiences that enhance wellbeing.

The panel will discuss how sensory fashion tech is creating new modes of emotional connectivity, user experience, and enhancing lifestyles and wellbeing.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS AND PANEL

Ishwari Thopte (panel chair)
Ishwari Thopte is the Fashion Tech Project Officer at the Centre for Fashion Enterprise and manages CFE's FashTech programmes and events. With 10+ years of experience spanning various aspects within the fashion industry, Ishwari works at the confluence of fashion, technology and digital, by creating a thriving cross-sector community in London and helping CFE lead the fashion tech revolution.

Matthew Drinkwater (speaker)
Matthew Drinkwater works at the crossroads of Fashion, Retail and Technology to head up LCF’s Fashion Innovation Agency. Matthew delivered the world’s first digital skirt for Nokia, wireless charging clothing for Microsoft and what Forbes described as ‘the first example of truly beautiful wearable tech’ for Disney and was named in the 100 most influential in the world of Wearable Technology. He is currently working on global concepts in wearables, fashion technology and IoT.

Nancy Tilbury (speaker)
Nancy Tilbury is a wearable technology pioneer with over twenty years of experience in the fashion and technology sectors. Tilbury is the Co-Founder and Director of connected apparel and accessories brand XO, specifically designed for fashion and entertainment for Gen Z, as well as the established fashion & technology laboratory XO Labs. XO’s team of hybrid experts from fashion designers to coders, and engineers to materiologists, create emotionally driven wearable tech experiences that sit between the physical-digital, the synthetic and the hyper-real. Their clients include Lady Gaga, Intel, The Black Eyed Peas, Arcade Fire, Infiniti/Nissan, Absolut, Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Lexus.

Julie Jenson Bennett (speaker)
Julie Jenson Bennett is CEO and design strategist at Precipice Design. As a design strategist, she’s defined dozens of disruptive technology products in networking, e-commerce, television, domestic appliances and fast-moving consumer goods and holds a patent for novel visual browsing interfaces. As a leader, she’s consistently delivered vision, profits and growth in a range of business models, from small creative studios to global corporate teams. 24 years of working on the knife-edge of business and design has stretched her experiences far beyond her original career in interaction design at Intel Corporation.

Dr Jenny Tillotson FRSA (speaker)
Jenny Tillotson is the creator and driving force behind eScent® and Visiting School at the University of Cambridge. She works at the crossroads of design, biotechnology, fashion and fragrance, creating sensory wearables that react to mood and the environment. An award-winning designer, her research includes diverse knowledge sources and scholarly work on controlled-release scent and new generation sensors for wellbeing and human sustainability. Jenny is building neuroscience patented products with context-dependent scent that can be bio-synced to a person's emotional, mental, or physical state. In 2016, eScent® won Best Innovation at the Wearable Technology Show for its unique sense and dispense technology.
